President's Message
Louise
It is with tremendous pride and enthusiasm that I assume the role of President of RTO/ERO District 27. With a newly-minted Executive and some fresh faces on the Board of Directors, this promises to be a most auspicious year as we go forward with a fantastic team.

At approximately 3,900, District 27 has the second-largest number of members. Outside of Provincial Headquarters, we are also the only truly bilingual local, offering communications, services and events in both official languages.

But it is our team — “la crème de la crème” — that distinguishes us from other districts. Our team currently boasts the highest number of members involved in provincial committees. These individuals have been chosen by Provincial for their knowledge and capacity to help others. We should all be proud of the achievements of these hard- working people who so competently represent our district at the provincial level and who tirelessly share their talents and selflessly realize their aspirations beyond local interests. We are, indeed, very fortunate.

It is also with renewed vision that I approach the coming year. As both President and Social Chair, I would like to take a new approach by organizing more diverse social activities in which all District 27 members can participate and enjoy one another’s company.

As a prime example of my vision, we are very fortunate to have been able to reinstate our travel program, with a trip already planned for New York City in May and one for a visit to Stratford, Ontario in the fall.

But we can’t do it alone. It is up to all of us to make the goal for increased participation happen! We invite you to offer your ideas, your time and your camaraderie. We, on the Executive and Board of Directors, want to meet you and your friends, and I know that you and your friends and family would enjoy meeting us.

I am excited about the prospect of having more members of District 27 participate in a wider range of social activities ranging from a proposed Family Fun Day to sporting and cultural outings. Let’s meet each other and enjoy one another’s company.

I have listed below a few ideas for social activities that I hope will inspire interest. I promise laughter and friendship, and, if we hold outdoor activities, for example, I will personally provide hot chocolate!

As President and Social Chair of District 27, I would like to plan new and different events for our members. These activities could be for ten members or two hundred members. Here are my ideas for possible events:

• rotating breakfasts and TGIFs (different locations in the east, south and west)
• barbecues and family picnics
• sporting activities such as snowshoeing and skating, bowling and golf
• cultural events such as concerts, movies and dances
• outings to Winterlude, various festivals and other regional events

Do you have any other ideas? Can you help with planning and organizing new events? We need just a few hours of your time, even if it is just for one event.

Think big or think small. All ideas will be considered. Hurry! We need time to organize. Contact me at 613-446-5863 or at louisenoailles@hotmail.com

New events will be listed here
